The Great Dane has an excellent selection of beers, with the Scotch Ale and Wheat Beers being my favorites. To compliment the great beer, the Dane has six regulation pool tables which are outstanding. Good food too! (Date added: 3/19/98) I don't like to give out fives, but a four is too low for this excellent establishment (the hot pretzels are fantastic with one of their excellent brews. I second the previous comments about the porter--it truly is world-class. The pale ales are also worthy of any serious beer drinker's consideration. If there's a better brewpub in the U.S., I'd like to visit it. (Date added: 11/18/97) Good food- average beer (Date added: 9/5/97) The best brewpub in the state. Excellent selection of beers. The pale ale and scotch are very good, while the porter is extraordinary... possibly the best I've had anywhere. Great atmosphere--pool room, bar area, dining room, patio, beer garden, a rasthkellar. The Black Earth Porter is definitely one of the very best porters I have ever had. Once your done drinking one, scarf down some Bangers and Mash. Place is fairly large with a very nice billiards room (equipped with a humidor full of decent stogies). |
