Living in STL I take the Bud tour about 2 to 3 times a year. Old Style was refreshing!! not only do they produce a great brew, but the folks were very friendly and informative. They are very proud of their product. I highly recommend that you stop by and take the tour! (Date added: 5/11/98) Tours are from 11-3, with the last tour starting at 3pm. I got there at 2:50 on a cold, rainy Thursday afternoon and the place was empty except for a gift shop employee and Spike, an 18-yr old tour guide. Despite my being the only person there that afternoon, Spike served me several brews, Old Style, Special Export, and HefeWeizen. (they all pretty much taste the same, I'm mainly an ale drinker) Spike then showed me a film on the brewery and gave a nice tour of the facility, I was surprised at how well he handled my questions. They do not show the bottling or kegging process, Spike explained that it lacks the space for viewing, but it was shown in the film before the tour. (Date added: 2/27/98) Not only a great brewery but a very scenic city to boot. This is great town for a weekend trip. These people are very proud of their product and rightly so. I think their brews ( Old Style & Special Export) are the best of the Macro brews. Don't believe bud's hype, Old Style outsells bud at Wrigley Field by quite a large margin. Even Harry Carry can't fool the fans !! This town also hosts a great Octoberfest in the fall check it out ! (Date added: 1/29/98) Now owned by Strohs. Last I heard they made all of Heileman's brands including Henry Weinhard's varieties (Probably the highest end beer they have). Pabst also contracted with them. This is a top notch NATIONAL brewer. Mnay other brands other than listed in previous article including blatz + (Date added: 11/8/97) Heilman is responsible for Old Style, Old Style Light, Schmidt's, Schmidt's Ice, Schmidt's Red Lager, Schmidt's Light, Mickey's, Mickey's Ice, and Stag. This is heaven. It is macrobrew at it's best! (Date added: 4/30/97) |
