Atomsphere, food and brews all solid, but nothing outstanding or particularly memoriable. The pub has seperate dining and pub areas. The pub area is rustic with lots of wood and the brewery is in plain view behind the bar. The bar offers a full line of wine and liquor, as well as a selection of commercial beer. On the eveining I was there they had four of their own on tap. All were Bavarian style lagers according to the menu: Hummingbird (light lager), Red Oak (amber lager), Battlefield Black (dark lager) and the guy ensuring my mug was never empty said the fourth was a bock. All the brews seemed too light in body and none really were "tasty." They weren't bad, but merely average. Obviously trying to appeal to the masses and from the mix of folks hanging out and the fact that the place was packed, they are succeeding. I'll go back next time I'm in Greensboro. Right now it is the only game in town and the brews are o.k., but they won't be on your "best o! f..." list. (Date added: 1/9/98) |
