Head Brewer: Mike Ghreeb (Date added: 3/14/98) - James F. Kloska My waiter seemed to know a good deal about the beer, but messed up our food order. I tried an IPA that they had as a seasonal I think and my girlfriend had a Strawberry pale ale. The IPA was Ok, but I really liked my sip of her strawberry. I'm sure I'll make it back there eventually, but probably won't be going out of my way for it. (Date added: 5/19/97) Food seemed quite good; the menu offered good variety. The waiter was knowledgable about the food, but vague on the beer. The River City Red was similar to a Killian's Red, but seemed to lack the body and the flavor. The Lumberman Dark (porter) also seemed to have less presence than I expected. This seems to be a brewery designed to appeal to the typical American taste in beer, not to really convert anyone to "better" beer. I'd go back, but it's not world-class. |
